This program will help you increase your balance, core strength, limb strength, power, coordination and endurance. Functional X incorporates exercises from functional training, Yoga, Pilates, sports conditioning and the weight room. Classes include mat work, weights, medicine balls, exercise tubing resistance, plyometrics and fun agility training guaranteed to bring improvement regardless of your current level of fitness. Each class ends with a guided 10-15 minute stretch. Wear non-marking indoor shoes (available by order from Thousand Waves).

Thousand Waves' Yoga Program blends traditional Hatha Yoga with the Vinyasa and Astanga styles. Classes are welcoming to those completely new to yoga and challenging for those with a regular practice. Each session includes breathing exercises, meditation, sun salutations, lower body warm-ups and 10-15 basic postures with variations.

These exercises stretch, tone and apply healthy pressure to all of the major muscles, joints and organs of the body.

Thousand Waves has yoga mats, straps, and blankets for students' use, and we also sell eco-friendly yoga mats.

Fitness & Yoga Instructors

Joshua Keesecker – Monday Fitness Instructor

Joshua Keesecker earned his 1st degree black belt in Seido Karate in 2004 and has instructed in the children's and adult classes since 2000. He instructed group classes at Lakeshore Athletic Club from 2001 - 2003, and is an AYSO Nationally Certified Youth Coach. "Over the years I have come to define fitness as more about functionality, rather than brute strength or raw power. Being able to move your body effectively through your world, be it everyday activities, athletic endeavors, or occupational necessities such as lifting or carrying. My definitions of fitness are building effective strength and power; protecting, balancing and stabilizing joints; increasing muscle chain coordination, agility, speed and control."

Sarah Kranz - Wednesday Fitness Instructor

Sarah is a Licensed Physical Therapist, Athletic Trainer, Certified Personal Trainer, Life Coach in Communications, and NIKKEN Wellness Consultant. She is also trained as a Pilates Instructor, studied Shotokan Karate for 8 years and has a 1st degree black belt in Seido karate.

"I am excited to be able to share my skills with the Thousand Waves community in this way. My goal is to create a dynamic, fun and challenging exercise class that contributes to its participants' health by promoting strength for everyday life as well as for athletic endeavors, and that empowers each individual to safely and effectively challenge themselves while still working in a community setting."
